Verizon BlackBerry Tour Reviews

A few days ago we had a Scoop on the Verizon BlackBerry Tour getting unboxed by both Engadget Mobile and BGR. Well today they have both released their full on review of Verizon’s Tour.  Overall great reviews of the Tour and the consensus seems to be that it is a must have for CDMA users.  If you want to read all the juicy details head on over to Engadget Mobile/BGR.  If you would rather just skip all that and get to the conclusions read on after the jump..

Engadget Mobile:

Put simply, the BlackBerry Tour is far and away the best CDMA BlackBerry available, and it could very well might be the best BlackBerry period if not for a few shortcomings. At this point in the game, we’re still in denial that there isn’t WiFi in this device — it’s inexcusable. We’re well aware of Verizon’s stance on the matter, and we still think it’s ridiculous that they’re allowing RIM to offer a device in this category that doesn’t offer such a basic, universal feature, seemingly in an effort to increase reliance on WWAN data services and juice customers for a few extra bucks in data revenue. We’re also disappointed that the screen doesn’t make the most of the available real estate and that it seems excessively sensitive. Bottom line, if you’re a CDMA user and plan to keep things that way, the Tour is definitely the best BlackBerry available — and it will probably be that way for a long time to come.

While the BlackBerry Tour lacks Wi-Fi and sports a slightly slower processor compared to the BlackBerry Bold, we can confidently say when it’s released later this month it will the best BlackBerry on the market. We won’t look ahead, we’ll focus on what is in front of us and if we do that, the Tour is the top dog. It’s on a superb network, it’s extremely professional and durable, and it’s incredibly pocketable and versatile. 2009 BlackBerrys include 256MB of RAM and 3.2 megapixel AF cameras which are probably the only two things people would change about the Bold. Add in a smaller and arguably sexier package and you’ve got a sure shot winner. There’s no question this is the finest CDMA BlackBerry to date and if you’re on a CDMA network (Verizon or Sprint) this is a no-brainer. Besides being a fantastic handset, it’s a world device that will work practically anywhere on the planet, thus eliminating a difficult barrier of entry (people who want Verizon) for globe-trotters. RIM really knows hardware and it shows, and if you’re ok with the BlackBerry OS then we suggest you give the BlackBerry Tour a long and hard look come Sunday the 12th.
