If you are eligible to upgrade on 4/4 you more than likely, even if this rumor is true, will have no issues getting an Eris. Just because it is supposed to go end-of-life on 4/1 doesn't mean it wont be in stores any longer. Most stores will continue to sell through the stock that they have on shelves. Best of luck to you!

Don't forget, VZW just released that Motorola A555 "Devour" for the teeny-boppers who think they want Android. With the HTC P00100 "Droid Eris" going off the shelves, this leaves Verizon with a $100, $150, and $200 selection. Personally, I'd like to see the Eris stay; it's exactly what I need, a no-frills, grownup smartphone with ACTUAL buttons to answer calls with. I don't need the latest and greatest, fancy-shmancy microcomputer. And I certainly don't need a sliding, off-center keyboard that I can't even type my own name on.

I'm just worried that my planned upgrade date, 04/04, might be too late for the Eris. But if I had to get the Incredible (which, by the way, is a stupid name for a phone anyway in my opinion, which is the only opinion that matters) for say, $100, then I'm game. I'm just waiting for that $50 New Every Two credit.

This will be my first "smartphone," which I never thought I'd ever want. But without high speed internet access in my rocky forest crag six zillion miles from fiber optic or coax cable, this is probably going to be my best bet. And since I'm nowhere near my own computer for days on end, a smartphone would get more use. I think the Eris would work just nicely.

Oh I understood, but it's crazy how bent out of shape folks on forums and other sites have gotten over this rumor. I hope it's more than a rumor though, as again, I'm due for an upgrade and it coming out around April 1st would make me a happy guy.

Sorry you guys got some much crap though on other sites for posting a rumor from a credible source.

My only issue is with Verizonwireless for dragging out the release of phones that can compete against the Iphone.....they need a better variety of phones and they need it now.....Many will start leaving Verizon to get the phones they need....HTC phones seem to be better quality phones

okay so im reading these comments and all I really see is blah blah blah. Do any of you actually no what HTC is doing? Im pretty sure the answer to that questions is a BIG No. Do not discredit something when you have no idea what you are talking about. First of all do not compare specs of HTC and MOTO device its all relative. Also Moto has only released one Device that has somewhat decent specs and that would be the Droid and the Droid is jut a so so device in my eyes. I know for a fact that 2.1 is in development for the Eris and Hero considering I run 2.1 on every Android Device I own, oh and 3.0 on a few others but thats for a different rant. Just because something hits end of life on a carrier does not mean that it will just up and "vanish" it just really means that vzw will not longer order this device which makes sense. The HTC Incredible will be launching around April 1st. So to wrap this up dont discredit Berryscoop with your nonsensical BS. Their info is correct and wherever your "sources" are, they are wrong and most likely just pull it out of their heads like 95% of the blogging world. Enough Said. Good Job BerryScoop.

Let me clear something up, the Incredible is expected to launch around April 1st. The Eris is what is expected to go end-of-life on the 1st.

Thanks for posting this. Not even tho other blogs with news on android phones have really posted this. I do hope April 1 is the release date instead of the vague May I heard recently. That'd make me very happy since I'm up for an upgrade now.

Thaks for the reply. The big sticking point is the ram. Every indiciation is that it will have 256mb but that doesn't make sense given the N1's specs and the fact that it would be a premier phone.
