Posted on 23. Mar, 2010 by in BlackBerry, Tech News

Verizon customers you are in luck, starting on March 25th Skype Mobile will be available to any customer with a smartphone and a data plan (provided it is a supported device). The features of the Skype mobile service for Verizon are as follows:

  • make and receive unlimited Skype-to-Skype voice calls to anyone else on Skype around the globe
  • send and receive unlimited instant messages with other people on Skype
  • call international phone numbers at our low rates

Skype mobile uses the same Verizon voice network as regular calls, so the call quality should be no different than what you already experience. It also does not charge against your monthly call minutes, so feel free to make hour long Nationwide Skype to Skype calls to your hearts content. The supported phone list covers the gamut of BlackBerry devices, with the exception of the Pearl and Pearl Flip, along with a handful of Android devices. Full device list:

  • BlackBerry Storm 9530
  • BlackBerry Storm2 9550
  • BlackBerry Curve 8330
  • BlackBerry Curve 8530
  • BlackBerry 8830 World Edition
  • BlackBerry Tour 9630
  • Motorola DROID & DEVOUR
  • HTC DROID ERIS

I’m not sure if I’m going to pay for this service I like the idea. Mostly likely because I need to stay in touch with some business friends over seas I’m thinking it may be a great savings.
