I can’t say that we didn’t see this coming. The writing has been on the wall for awhile now. According to Bloomberg, Palm has officially put itself up for sale. The report states that Palm has brought on Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Qatalyst Partners to bring in a buyer. Apparently HTC has stated they are interested as well as Lenovo has expressed interest. There have been jokes and even serious requests going on for awhile now between RIM faithful that they purchase Palm, which could be a good fit. Should RIM take a chance and purchase Palm? Should HTC, the manufacturer of some damn fine hardware, purchase a company with an advance OS and stop relying on 3rd parties? Or is someone else going to snag up Palm and try to save it from a near certain collapse? It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the coming weeks and months.
