So Verizon Wants The iPhone? Who Woulda Thought

Posted on 07. Apr, 2010 by in Tech News

Yesterday the internet ran a muck with talks about Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg having said that he has told Apple that Verizon wants the iPhone.  Does this really come as a surprise, really?  The iPhone has brought consumers to AT&T and helped their subscriber count tremendously, too bad the same can’t be said about their network.   From day one Verizon has paraded their latest smartphone as a superior replacement to the iPhone, yet none of them have been able to bring consumers to Verizon the way the iPhone has for AT&T. (With the exception of the Motorola Droid, but still not at iPhone levels)  So does it really surprise anyone at all that Verizon has told Apple they want the iPhone?

If you are a Verizon subscriber this is welcome news, Verizon has publicly stated they want the iPhone.  Now time will tell if Apple is willing to step up and meet the request.

And btw, I do believe that the Moto DROID has brought thousands and thousands from Apple/ATT to DROID/Verizon.

Keep that crap outta my service provider…

What would *YOU* do if you were Verizon? Agree to shell out millions of dollars to help subsidize 2007 iphones? A phone no one has ever heard of… knowns nothing about… and is unproven.

or… wait until the iPhone is a huge hit… and then get it.

AT&T took a huge gamble… and got very lucky.

Their luck is about to end.

I would have done the same thing, I am not saying that I wouldn’t. It just shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to everyone that they have approached Apple about it now, it only makes sense business wise for them to do so. Likewise for Apple to give them the iPhone.

I hope the iphone doesnt jack up vzw’s network, just like it did at at&t.

Now that Verizon has the Droid who cares about the iPhone? I don’t. And seriousely I hope Apple stays with At&t. The competition is good for all.
