WES Coverage: BlackBerry (OS) 6 Preview Video Goes Live

Posted on 27. Apr, 2010 by in BlackBerry

RIM just gave its user base a brief preview of BlackBerry 6 as they are calling it, which is the same thing as BlackBerry OS 6.  Go ahead and watch it, then come back for some extra details.  We will wait.. go ahead.  So what did you think?  Pretty hot if you ask me!  Some features and details of BlackBerry 6 are:

- Crisp, more immersive visuals, including new graphics, animations and transitions
- New WebKit browser; it’s high-fidelity and very efficient, for fast, rich browsing with support for multiple sessions (i.e. tabbed browsing)
- Multi-touch support (e.g. pinch to zoom) while browsing, viewing photos, etc.
- Graphical, context-sensitive menu pop-ups
- Redesigned core apps, plus a new media player UI
- New Home Screen experience; multiple views based on content type (All, Favorites, Downloads, Media, etc.), universal search
- New app for integrating RSS and social networking feeds

I have been on the fence with RIM and their lack of innovation, but I have to say that BlackBerry 6 looks pretty damn nice.  I can’t wait for it to leak to get my hands on it and see what it really has to offer.
