What? Are you serious? Yes I am! BGR first reported that AT&T was sold out of the iPhone 4 and then what we thought was just a rumor became a reality. Engadget received a statement from AT&T confirming that today has been the busiest day in AT&T’s history. Busy doing what? Taking orders or trying to reboot their servers that went down?
“Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We’ll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24.”
Seriously…no one was able to get an order through this morning because of AT&T’s servers failing. I finally got lucky and was able to get my order through around 3PM EST. I hope Stevie has a backup plan. I think a lot of folks will be disappointed to have tried all day to get their order through and then to be told that AT&T is sold out.
Remember the statement says AT&T is sold out..not Apple!
*UPDATE* Just tried placing an order on ATT.com and the screenshot below confirms it!
