Well what do we have here? A tipster just sent us an image of the official invite to an AT&T hosted BlackBerry event in NYC on Tuesday, August 3rd. Based on the obvious icons in the flyer, this event can only mean one thing. BlackBerry 6. Now if I had to guess, this has 9800 written all over it, unless they have some other secret device they have been testing. This would seem to jive with the rumor floating around that the 9800 would be released on the 15th of next month. This time frame gives them space to announce and gather up as many preorders as they can. While this is obviously speculation, the writing seems to be on the wall for us to see BlackBerry 6 sooner rather than later. Heres hoping for the 9800!

In the almost ten years I’ve worked at Research In Motion (RIM), I’ve never been as excited about a BlackBerry® software launch as I am for BlackBerry 6, which is on track for release this summer. I’m absolutely in love with the BlackBerry 6 experience and I expect other longtime users like me will feel the same. I also think the wide range of changes and added features in BlackBerry 6 will attract a lot of new users to the BlackBerry platform.

I know I’m not the only one who is looking forward to BlackBerry 6. There was a lot of excitement about our first public sneak peek of BlackBerry 6 at WES 2010, and I’m happy to share a little more today through the new video posted above.

In addition to the new fluid user interface, the video illustrates a few of the new applications and features in BlackBerry 6 that are designed to provide users with a mobile experience that is fun and approachable, yet extremely powerful. We’ll discuss these features in more detail on Inside BlackBerry as we move closer to the point when BlackBerry 6 becomes publicly available.

Of course, we would love to hear your thoughts. Post a comment and let us know which aspect of BlackBerry 6 grabs your attention the most. Is it the new user interface with a redesigned home screen, universal search and context-sensitive pop-up menus? Is it the revamped BlackBerry Browser powered by WebKit? Excited to grab the Blackberry 9800 or perhaps play with Blackberry OS 6? patience…but while we wait, we can enjoy yet another video of the Blackberry 9800 Slider featuring Blackberry 6. Salomondrin has posted a video showing up close the Blackberry 9800. Personally i’m not such of a slider fan, but I am really looking forward to play around with Blackberry 6. Not much that we don’t already know about the device but grab some popcorn and enjoy the video after the jump!

So yesterday I got tipped off  tipped off to this thread in the CrackBerry.com forums about a number of people getting a Bold 9650 replacement for Tour warranty issues. Then this morning I saw this post by Adam Zeis over at CrackBerry stating that he had confirmed it for himself. I recieved a warranty replacement (refurbished Tour) back in March and it’s been buggy since then, sketchy trackball, poor reception etc., so I decided I’d give Verizon Customer service a call and see what happened. After walking through the trouble shooting steps, and customer service asking me if there was a sticker with red x’s behind the battery (checking for water damage) the story pretty much goes the same as it did for Adam and the users in the forums. She told me she would send me a replacement device, then after a few minutes she said that they are out of replacement Tour devices and she would send me a Bold instead if that was ok with me. I, of course, said it was absolutely fine. She then also  gave me the option of a Bold with or without a camera, to which I choose the camera. My Bold 9650 will be at my office on Tuesday and I will have to return the Tour. So here’s to you Verizon Wireless, your customer support never ceases to amaze me.
